Surviving the Shopping Experience!

Don't be a victim like my wife was!

JoAnn writes:

Looks like a lot of you have been reading my blogs about personal safety and self defense. Paul has been around this stuff a long time. Our marriage survived 22 years of Paul being a cop.

Paul was seldom home on nights, weekends, or holidays. He always had wild stories to tell. Most cops would never tell their wives anything about work, but most cops end up divorced. We have been together 41 years!

Paul was telling me about writing his blog.

We were talking about how "careless" some people are with their personal security and safety. Well, I was alone and a victim of a purse snatching about 8 years ago. When it was over and I realized what had happened, it really scared me, even though I never even saw the bad guy!

My purse was sitting on the front seat of the car while I was pumping gas. The bad guy just reached in and took my wallet while I was at the rear of the car pumping gas.

Just the other day, we were in one of those Buffet style restaurants.

Paul & I noticed many ladies going back to the buffet line to get more food, leaving their purses sitting out in plain site on the table or hanging across the back of their chair!

(Check out Paul's blog titled "Blue Light Special".

This one could be titled,

" Blue Plate Special" All U CAN EAT, PLUS dessert and a FREE purse with every meal!"

I ALWAYS take my purse with me or make DOUBLE sure that Paul is going to stay at the table while I am gone back to the line.

If you never had your purse stolen, girls, you just don't understand what you go through. It really violates you as a person. If you have ever been attacked, and I was as a little girl, then it really stinks. Plus there is all the hassle reporting all the stuff that was taken.

Have you ever tried to report your VISA card stolen?

What's in Your Wallet?

That right there is enough to make you do all you can to prevent it from ever happening again!

Paul & I go almost everywhere together, so he is always with me and I feel pretty secure.

Being alone, getting off work late, or shopping late is not any fun. You should really have some kind of personal defense such as a Cell Phone Stun. There are also have Stun Guns that look like pagers or flash lights. These STUN Guns will really knock em down and leave them drooling like a baby.

There are also TASERS that will knock em down while they are still 20 feet away! Now that's what I call,

"REACHING OUT AND TOUCHING SOMEONE!"

The"CELL PHONE STUN GUN" is my favorite, because it is so small and easy to carry right in your hand. The wrist strap keeps it handy, yet will disable the stun gun if the bad guy pulls it away from you.

Whether your defense is your husband, boyfriend, a BIG dog, a 357 magnum or a Stun Gun, practice with it, have the defense weapon with you, not in the glove box or down in the bottom of your purse!

Be safe, feel safe, do not live in fear. Be prepared and heaven forbid, if a violent situation does ever present itself, you will SURVIVE!
